Link to this article about the hugh debt collector business in Buffalo New York; some of the tactics they use are heartbreaking (and many of us have been exposed to these bottom-feeders).

My gosh, Buffalo NY must be the bottom feeder capitol of the world, seems like we are hearing more and more things like this which mostly points in that direction. Thanks for posting this Pachacutec!

OK, let's see if this "registration thingy" works! RE the Buffalo story; glad others found it of interest - I didn't realize there was such a large concentration of DC's in that area!

Thanks for the great article! It is heartbreaking because those that do not know any better(like me before I came here) fall for some of the tactics.

The beauty of this site and people like you are, that others can become educated in debt and credit and not have to go through some of these things. What a blessing that I finally became educated enough that I know how to handle these things,or most of them,and not get that terror that I felt before I came here. I have passed what I know on to others that I have come across and given many this web address.

A collector gave me the greatese compliment when she said that they knew I was "debt educated" and where I got my information! I told her it was about time I became educated so others cannot take advantage and bully me.

Well, I DID register, hopefully everything is ok; I've been on this board for a fairly short while compared to some of the others. I received SO much help on this site getting away from the PDL mess myself, I'm willing to do whatever I can to help others. I found out a LOT more about PDL's than I ever wanted to know! :(
