In the meantime I suggested they get a hold of their old bank statements from around when they had payday loans to see if it was listed somewhere with a # for them to call. Also suggested that they file a complaint with his states Dfi.
Otherwise, I'm stumped.

CA dfi won't get involved.... I dunno why they said because the CA isn't licensed in their state.. well duh.. then get involved. Any trick to get the state of CA involved?
They're trying to get the CA off their credit report and nothing is working.

When writing a dispute letter to a CRA you have to been short and consise, providing facts, dates, addresses, etc. Let it be known that the law was broken when this loan was extended. The fact that this is an illegal lender needs to be explained. Explain the license situation, include the payday loan laws, a copy of all complaints made, ei., complaints to the FTC, AG, BBB. etc. You have to convince them that allowing negative remarks on your credit report on an illegal loan is counter productive for their company.

Yup.. that's what we told the person. I had no problems getting them off my TU report when I started my credit repair. I've also suggested (Since the CA is in MO) for them to file complaints with any state regulators in MO that they can find. The Ca apparently is not answering any letters this person has sent them (surprise surprise). We all know how dealing with CA for illegal payday loans are.
I also tried telling them to get their bank statement to see if that the original creditor that's being reported by the CA matches ANYTHING that was coming out at the time when they had the loans, but they're afraid of going to their old bank because they still owe close to 2k in overdraft charges that they can't pay right now and doesn't want to open a can of worms there. (I don't think they did the whole Ach revoke thing at the time like we suggest).
