I have used your great advice to settle with my many payday loan companies. It was a huge mistake in the first place to take them out but from 7 loans I am only dealing with 3. United Cash Loans, Ace Cash Services, and Impact/PDL Ventures. I have written and e-mailed them the letters as suggested asking for license and what not. As I am in the state of Minnesota. None of those three are licensed to do buisness. The biggest pain has been PDL Ventures, they have an address in logan, ut and now in box elder, mt. They acknowledge reciveiving my e-mails and hard copy letters, but contest they are legal in mn and refuse to stop calling my place of employment or my home phone! I have asked them not to call my work, but apparently since they are on indian land they dodnt have to abide even by federal law??? if any thing they shouldnt call my work! I am so confused. I have sent letters to the Attorney Generals office, but how do I deal with it if they are on Indian Land? the BBB has stopped taking complaints because, get this they have gotten too many! LOL I just was wondering if anyone else has delt with them or other companies on indian land, as I know United Cash is too in Miami, OK. What is a person to do are their any laws they have to abide by?! any help is greatly appreciated.

The Indian Tribe defense is just an excuse they use to ignore your state's laws, which they DO have to abide by. By ignoring your written and verbal requests to cease calling, they are also in violation of the FDCPA. File a complaint with the FTC and at www.ic3.gov. Also, a letter to your local Department of Justice's Consumer Protection Unit might not hurt either.
