Phone number

Unfortunately, my accounts are all in good standing for several years, and because I had learned about credit at 18 when I worked for a bank part-time, all of my credit cards which I acquired from 18-19 have the phone number to my parents house. As of right now, they almost never get called because I always opt-out of everything (another good thing to know) and have never been late.
I really don't want them to get harassed because of my problems, so I was thinking of calling them all today and telling them I switched my phone provider and phone numbers, while I am currently in good standing.
Do you think in 30-60 days from now when I start to show up as late that they will contact the old number? Or, even if they do call it, can they say I no longer live there, and they'll stop?
Aside from that, I'm going to be using my google voice phone number so once I start getting the calls I can set it in the options to go directly to voicemail, and just listen to the messages later.
Any thoughs/opinions/advice would be appreciated.

most likely they will still have old number in their records and will try to call it a lot, you can send each company a cease and desist letter that directs all contact to you to be made in writing, i think you would be able to send those now, i dont think you have to be past due, you can get that letter form from books at the library or there may be somewhere on the computer you could get a form letter as well

I would stick with your plan of switching the number, they will start calling a week or two after your first missed payment. Discover called me after 5 days and I had never missed a payment. I would answer the phone the first couple of times just to let them know you can be reached at your new number and then let the machine pick it up. If you plan on settlement in the first six months then I would talk to them about once a month.

You cannot cease and desist an original creditor. They will call all numbers, old and new attached to the file.
