can I go to jail for not paying a payday loan?

We may be able to help you, if you will provide us with more information:
-Names of each pdl company.
-Whether they are store front or Internet.
-How much you borrowed.
-How much you paid so far.
-The state in which you reside.

Meanwhile, I am moving this to the payday loan help section.

Here's this list of the payday loans that I currently have. They are all Internet loans:

Payday Direct-borrowed 200.00 paid back 445.00 in finance charges so far
ABC PaydayLoan- borrowed 300.00 paid back 450.00 in finance charges so far
Beacon-borrowed 200.00 paid back 89.00 in finance charges

I live in PA. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

the top two you owe nothing,in fact you overpaid.the third one you owe 111.00.all your loans are illegal as pdl's are prohibited in PA.go to the sticky at the top of this forum titled DEALING WITH ILLEGAL LENDERS.that will guide you every step of the way.

go see the manager, and get a hard block put on the account.if you get direct depoisit have a live check cut for a couple of weeks.do not out stop payments as those never work with these places.again see the manager, and have a hard debit block put on until you can get it even, and close it.

ABC Payday Loan called me today and said they have submitted wage garnishment papers to my HR department for the amount of $495.00. I originally took out $300.00 and paid back $450.00 in finance charges. Can they do this? They also emailed me and I responded back that I thought this loan has been more than paid off.

i would ask your HR if that happened.alot of illegal pdl's will attempt a wage assignment.the sticky shazzers had you got to should have a template for a wage assignment revocation letter.the assignment is voluntary and revocable.btw you live in a non granishment state your HR person sholud know this.i would check with them to make sure though.
