CC company wants $200 to start settlement process?

Hello,
There is one CC company that wants to settle, but they keep insisting that I must pay $200 first before a settlement can be made. What do I do in this case???
The outstanding balance is $13,000. Do I take their word for it and pay the $200? They said settlement is not a option if I don't.....
If I pay the $200, I don't want to reset the account to current.......please help!

They should not be charging you anything, or taking a payment, i
They should not be charging you anything, or taking a payment, in advance of putting anything in writing. Most likely you would be reset, and they would deny that they ever offered yhou settlement.

i wouldnt go for it. to many horror stories of them going back

I thought it was fishy as they kept on insisting.
Im at about 5 months now and although some are willing to settle, they want to settle in the 35-50% range. Am I doing something wrong?
