Called Citibanks's lawyer after court papers

They said that they will accept $7500 on a $10K balance as a lump sum or they would take $500 down and $300 for 35 months to keep out of court. I don't have anything close to the $7500 and he said it would take something very close for them to accept it as a settlement. 75% settlement seems high but it would sure beat going to court. Any suggestions?

I do have several days before he is expecting me to call back or before we have to answer the summons.


If you want to avoid going to the court, this is your only option. You can either negotiate further with the lawyer or try to arrange the money for settlement.
