I have a few questions. I have 6 medical bills that are listed on my credit report with the same CA as unpaid. 5 of those bills are with the same original creditor. Now how would I negotiate with them to lower these bills, if I pay them off now? Do most CA negotiate with you to get them paid off? Another question is that I have an outstanding medical bill that is on my report for $1526 , but I had medical Insurance at that time and I have proof of the insurance. How do I go about on trying to get this settled?

Thanks for any help.
Jill

In the past when I have had t deal with medical bills, I found out it is better to try to work with the original creditor,if you can. Call the oc and ask them about the 5 bills. You want to make sure that they are valid and the amounts are correct. I once had a hospital have me with 3 bills, and it turned out it was the same bill,so check and make sure.

With the insurance thing, call them and make sure that they had the information right on your card. Also, ask them to re-submit it for you. I have had to get the Dr. and other medical places "re code" their submission and submit it again. Was your deductible satisfied when that bill was charged? Sometimes you will still owe--the 20%, or the deductible, even if you still have insurance.

I actually have had more luck with trying to get my bills paid, and with them working with me with medical, rather than credit cards. Good Luck..Karen
