I have one credit card left to settle and it is with BOA for about 12K.
My first missed payment was in October 2009, so I am nearing 4 months past due.
For the first 90 days or so BOA called regularly, I explained my hardship and requested a settlement. Each time they told me that I was not eligible for a settlement. Oddly, I have not received a call from them since right around the New Year.
Does this mean anything? Are they just letting it charge off?
Should I start calling them and making settlement offers?
My plan is to start at 2K and try to bring it in at around 4k.

Any advice is most appreciated.
Thanks!

Almost exactly the same situation with me. 3 Cards FIA total $40k. 4 months out. Frequent calls until 1/1...several per day. Now absolutely nothing. I have had no settlement discussion and they have not offered. Others here say wait until over 4 months late and they will offer...so I hope to hear soon.

They are selling your paper. They don't wanna deal with it. Send payment NOW. Once it goes to the collection boys/girls, it gets ugly. THEN you need help. If you have money to send and they receive payment, they cannot sell your paper. Do NOT wait to hear from them, they are setting up your debt to be sold to a collection agency.

Thanks for the advice. Just called BOA card services and they told me that there are no settlement options on my account. The woman advised me to call back early next month as things change from month-to-month. I confirmed that this was my fourth missed payment. So I guess have about 60 days to do something...Not willing to let this go to a collection agency.

I guess the best advice is just to hang in and sit tight, correct?

I am at 120 days late or so, they offered 40%. I am sitting tight, i know they will come down farther. This is on a 50k balance.

Please do not furnish false and misleading information. Sending payment now is not what I have found to be the best thing to do, whatsoever. Looks to me like you work for the creditor.
