I am new here and have been just reading all the posts I can about doing debt settlement on my own. I am ready to get started on this process and I was wondering if it would affect my chances of getting a settlement if I have been doing my credit card payments online. They have my bank account number on file because of this. My debt is about $34,000 and the largest three cc are about $9000 each. Our income is about $55,000 per year. Please advise.

You can't default on the loans as long as you have money in the account. The creditor would keep debiting your account since you have authorised auto-debiting. You may have to cancel the auto debiting option and close the account to make the creditors agree to your terms of settlement.
