Okay, it's true that if the creditor wants it can sue you to recover the debt. However, I'd suggest that you take another day or two and then call up again. Hope you'd find someone who would be more sympathetic.
Now, have you received any settlement offer from them yet?

My situation is that my wonderful husband of 30 years passed away suddenly and tragiclly two years ago. I have been stuggling to stay afloat and I am now sinking. I am over 7 months behind on my mortgage and now finally the bank is helping to get my loan modified. I started that process almost a year ago....another stessful situation. I had a little life insurance and used that to help me pay off a few bills and also to help me exist. I have two credit cards, both BofA $3,800.00 and $27,000.00. The smaller account is current and the other is two months late. I am hoping to settle the card. I can borrow some money from my dad. Today I followed up after a call from BofA. I have been really upfront with them and so far all the reps have been really kind. But today the guy I talked to he went off on me with no sympathy for my situation. I feel really bad to be in this situation, I feel devestated to not pay my bills. So basically this guy said I will be sued and I am a loser for not paying my account. With everything I have been through, today I feel really lost and just sick. I guess I am looking for any advice out there from anyone that has been through this. Thanks in advance for any information or advice you can provide. Take care! |
This guy was a jerk. I settled 4 cards with them and was never spoken to badly. He is the only loser. They will settle the older it gets. I would not talk to him again though.

The other rep I called after being so upset with this other guy said that my account did not show any settlement offer available. She said the only option was a hardship program with a lower interest rate 4.90 and a payment of over $500.00 which I cannot afford. As I mentioned I am at 60 days late. So what do you all think. Just give it some time? I am so stressed out with all the crap I was left with when my husband died that I just don't think clearly all the time. I really appreciate all of your input....thank you!
I am really sorry for your situation..I really shouldn't post. H
I am really sorry for your situation..I really shouldn't post. However, everything I have read and learned so far I would suggest to just wait it out. I am just starting this process and it sounds like you got a real jerk. B or A from all the threads I have read are pretty good to settle with. I would just sit it out a little longer. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish you all the luck! Hang in there..this too shall pass.
Yes continue to wait it out. They did not call me often but it
Yes continue to wait it out. They did not call me often but it took 150 days late to get a offer.
Time is on your side. Do not stress about Bank of Am

Hang up and let the next one call if they are rude. Like anything else in life, some folks are great and others suck. ....oooooops, I just lost the connection. Sorry for your loss and hang in there, it will all work out at 150 days.
