I have been receiving threatening phone calls from a Stacy Bruce at United Legal Corporation stating that I owe $420 on a $300 payday loan from the online payday loan company of Paycheck Today. Miss Bruce then transfered me to her "supervisor" who began shouting at me that I didn't want to pay my bill and that I was wasting his time. He demanded that I pay $35 to secure the account today or admit that I wasn't going to the pay the bill. I requested that I wanted documentation of this debt in writing, and he said that he had mailed me a letter on January 4th to my home address and sent me an email. I haven't received either one of these documents and I refuse to pay something that I have no documentation of. This man's name is Don Porter 877-726-8505 ext 209. Senior Manager he says.

Is email a valid form of "in writing"? He keeps telling me that I can hang up at any time, but that he will not end the call on his end, and that I am refusing to pay by debt. I am not refusing to pay, but I want a vaild document IN WRITING, IN THE MAIL regarding the validity of this debt.

Has anyone ever dealt with this so-called "company" and how do I go about handling this?

a couple of questions

1)how much was borrowed
2)how much in fees was debited total
3)what state are you in

both paycheck today, and united legal are illegal.one being an illegal lender, and the other being a bottomfeeder collector.there is a sticky at the top of this forum titled DEALING WITH ILLEGAL LENDERS.click it,and it will guide you every step.you see being as this was an illegal lender you only owe the principle.anything they call fees go towards the loan.the idiots at united legal can't do a thing except call and make threats they can't carry out.do not pay them,or talk to them again.go to the sticky and you will be fine.

I am in Illinois. I have taken out so many payday loans online and in person that I can't keep it straight as to who I owe and who has been paid. I've been able to clean part of this mess up on my own, but I want to know if I would be able to get a refund from any of these online companies if they are illegally doing business in the state of Illinois. I don't know what my options are, and I know that 500 Fast Cash and One Click Cash went to collection agencies, so I'm sure I paid more than the original $300).
I have taken out payday loans with the following online lenders:
500 Fast Cash (borrowed $300, repayment was $390,no clue how much I actually paid them)
One Click Cash (borrowed $300, repayment was $390, again no clue on what I paid)
JD Marketing Group (I'm getting collection calls about this, stating that I owe $449 on the original $300 I borrowed)
Paycheck Today (borrowed $300, United Legal Corp says I owe $465)
National Payday Loan (borrowed $300, not sure if it has been paid or not)
Thanks I appreciate any help!!

i'm an illinois man myself.that being said all of loans are illegal in our state.go to the sticky titled DEALING WITH ILLEGAL LENDERS in this forum.that will guide you every step of the way.we can help with any questions otherwise, but just know that our AG lisa madigan will take complaints seriously.in fact i would file complaints against both of these places especially united legal as they broke the law in threatening you like that.
