We are going to stop paying this month. Scared to death as we have never not paid a bill our whole married life (20 yrs)..so I guess here we go. Is that what we do..just quit paying and wait???? AND never give our financial info to them ever??
Any more insight and advice on ALL of this would be so very helpful. I have lived and breathed this sight for the past several month. Thanks!

Okay, he can tell the creditors not to call him in the office but practically the FDCPA rules don't apply to the original creditor. So, they can continue calling him. You can ask him to avoid their calls or to redirect those to the home number.
When the creditors will call, try to be nice and explain your financial hardship to them. Being nice and courteous would often win a good offer for you. You must also express your eagerness to settle.

Thanks SC for your post. Also, as long as we keep communicating with them will this keep them from contacting anyone else i.e. a parent or close relatives, neighbors etc? I have no idea how they would get their numbers, and I do not recall us ever giving that information when we originally signed up for the cards. However, I really can't remember since we have had some of the cards for a really long time.
