Going to send out first letter. Any advice?

Been lurking around here and seems like the community is very helpful, and like many others, i have gone down the PDL loophole...
My first course of action is to go after "Ameriloan", which from my research is ILLEGAL to operate in California. I just wanted to confirm a few more things before sending out the letters.
If Ameriloan is illegal to operate in California, do I have the option of completely ignoring the fees and remaining balance?
I have already paid off one loan by Ameriloan which costed me about 450$ for borrowing 250$ (which means I overpaid 200$) and currently have another loan with Amerlioan (again) for 250$ and have paid 150$ in fees only (still oweing the initial 250$). This means that I technically overpaid 100$, so am I in a situation where I can tell Ameriloan to piss off and never bother me again? Also they are charging 75$ for the 250$ loan - THAT is pissing me off.

Hello Shazzers,
Thanks for the response!
So basically, as of now I had owed Ameriloan a total of 500$ (2 loans of 250$). With the addition of paying off the first loan + fees as well as the fees for the second loan, I have paid about 600$. Am I safe to assume that I do not owe anymore money and actually over paid 100$? (Ameriloan status shows that I still owe 325$ for the 2nd - $250 loan).

Yes, you overpaid $100 and Ameriloan is full of it. I wouldn't hold my breath for a refund. I overpaid more than you did, but I got a PIF and ran with it.

UPDATE:
Ameriloan has been contacting me via automated phone calls 1-2 times a day after sending out the letters (C&D). I recently sent a Debt Validation letter in order to have them prove that my "debts" are indeed valid, and whether the fees charged by Ameriloan complies with state law.
If harassment continues, can I pursue legal action due to violation of the FDCPA laws? I.e. continual harassment even after C&D letter, as well as no written debt validation? I'm not bothered by the phone calls etc, I know I've paid my part, it's time to stick it to them.

Well, a debt validation request only applies to third party collectors. Ameriloan isn't even located in the U.S. so suing them isn't an option, but, they can't sue you either. I would ignore the calls, they will eventually tire of it.
