How to end my wage garnishment
Date: Wed, 02/03/2010 - 12:52
Please give me advice on the following options:
Reduction Option: Can garnishment payments be reduced? What's the process of doing that?
Rehab option: I thought about rehab but they want me to pay an additional $500 per month for 9 months. THEY ARE REALLY TRYING TO KILL MY SMALL FAMILY!. The lender is West Asset. Is there a way to pay less than the additional they are asking?
Is it too late to appeal the whole thing? I didnt do it at the time because I was emotionally not stable and was a great risk for a miscarriage.
Please help. I just want to get my finances finally straight this year.
Please help. I was going to get SLRO to help but I keep hearing that they are a rip off and I could do what they would do myself and save money.

Bankruptcy would stop it. Whether this is the best option depends on a number of factors: the state you live in, your assets, the total amount of your debt. But it would end the garnishment.

This is a student loan if she is wanting to use SLRO. SLRO cannot do anything that you cannot do yourself. They are a major rip off.
West Asset is NOT a lender...they are the collection agency hired to collect your debt and administer your garnishment.
Your garnishment is suppose to be 15% of your disposable pay. According to my calculation, $566 is 15% of a monthly disposable pay of $3773. (Disposable pay are you wages minus taxes, fica, social security and medical insurance. Correct? If so, it is not likely you are going to get the garnishment reduced, you are way above poverty.
How much do you owe??
