Please can someone help with this its driving me nuts

on my experian file i have a bank of america file which says account chardged off/current $757 written off $332 past due as of mar 2005 but says that my credit limit was only $500 and my high balence was $260 and my recent balance $339 as of 03/2005 so how did they charge off $757 when i was never that high and its still on therev despite the fact i payed it off to a credit company and am in the process of finding the details as to which one so i have proof but i cant figure out the $757 charge off that would have made my balance over $1000 which it never reached ???

any advice would be great

THanks in advance

Also note it says account closed at consumers request does that mean i closed it which i did ?

piptay,

Welcome to forums :D

Charged-off is a negative mark that upsets your credit report. It seems from your post that this entry is incorrect. Perhaps the agency who you paid, had not reported your account accurately.

You have a valid point here in your support. How can your balance be $1000 when you had $500 credit limit? You must dispute it with credit bureaus. Send them a dispute letter clearly mentioning the entry that you disagree with. Credit bureau will then run an investigation and rectify the erroneous entries.

Don't forget to send your letters through CMRRR and keep the return receipts safely. Credit bureau should send you a response within 30 days. You can definitely send the second dispute letter if you do not hear from them within this time frame.

You need to request for an itemized statement about this account from Bank of America also. If this debt is charged off and past the SOL period, you are not bounded to pay it. But you will get a clear idea about your actual credit limit.

Place your dispute with the bureau as well. They will also verify the item with your information providers.
