I recently received a summons for a credit card that i owe $20K on. I know that I need to answer the summons, my question is, what happens next? Do I need to appear on my respond date or just have to submit my reponse. What happens after I submit my response.

i answered it in person, just tell them what you know. the clerk will ask you questions and help you file your answer, then give u a court date, mine is about 3 months after the date i file the answer. so just show up and defense yourself, or lawyer defense u.

there are list of defenses that you can use for your consumer.. something. u can check it on your state's civil court website, chec it out, see which defenses are best suitable for you and from there you can even check if they really file a complaint against you.

File a Motion to Dismiss because they never included any agreement or signed contract saying you have any obligation to pay this alleged debt. I did this with Chase, I received a Complaint on Sept 2 and still going back and forth in the system. If anything it will buy you time. They will settle to avoid court.
