I live in the state of Indiana. I have 8 outstanding payday loans. Once you get the first 2, you need to do more to keep up. It is bondage. They were all done over the internet. I bank with Chase.

I am assuming these are illegal in Indiana.

Please give advice to help.

Cash Yes $600 Loan - Paid $1,165 so far (Paid $100 towards balance)
Southern Financial (secure loans online) $400 Loan - Paid $840 so far
Fast and Reliable $500 Loan - Paid $675 so far ($50 towards balance)
Integrity Advance $500 Loan - Paid $750 so far
Collect 500 MMP - $500 Loan - Paid $700 so far
Loan Point $600 Loan - Paid $720 so far
Gov Emp Credit Loan - $400 loan - Paid $248 so far
signmyloan.net - $500 Loan - Paid $151 so far

I am in the process of closing my bank account today. I am waiting for a few pending transactions to go through. I am looking forward to the next steps. I can finally see some hope.

On 6 fo the 8 loans, I have paid more than the loan was for. What is the chance I can get the extra money refunded?

On the other 2, do I offer to pay the balance when I send the letter?

My bank account was closed yesterday. So between 10 AM and 11 AM, today I sent emails to all of the companies.

One of them, Southern Financial (secure loans online), I could not locate an email address. I called them. Told them I overpaid them $440. He said he could knock the loan down to $300 principal. I said I want a refund. He then agreed to close the loan as paid in full.

I am not sure if I should take it or still push for the refund.

I recieved an email from collect 500 stating
"Hi Frank, thank you for your email! We understand the difficulty of your situation. Per the form letter below it looks like you've been seeking the council of a debt relief agency. C500 LLC, operates identical to the credit card industry (who licenses in Delaware and exports Delaware law to outside states, maintaining no physical presence in the state to require such licensing).

Indiana allows for a fee of $15/$100. That's $75 on your $500 loan, borrowed 4 times = $300 in fees. Total balance PAID from you if you were to borrow from an Indiana storefront would equate to $800 ($300 fees plus $500 principal). You have successfully paid $700 to date.

In understanding the difficulty of your circumstance, we will eliminate the $500 balance that remains and note your account as paid in full as of 2/19/2010."

I am not sure if I should accept the paid in full or go after the $200 over principal that I paid.

I received an email from signmyloan.net stating
"
Frank,

We can accept payment of $349.00 to settle the account.

When can you mail your payment?

Signmyloan.net"

I am requesting an address to mail it too. Do you think I can get them to agree to take it in 3 monthly payments?

I will keep you all posted.

I would reply, sure I accept the paid in full and will print this out and keep it in my records, however, that does not let you off the hook, I STILL want a refund of $200.00 which is absolutely due me!! I am in the process of forwarding this email to my Attorney General, unless you agree to refunding me the amount due asap I will be forced to take further action! You have 24 hrs to respond, if I haven't heard back from you in 24 hrs I will be forwarding this correspondence to my state Attorney General, it will be out of my hands then.
Sincerely,
You
Make sure you follow through if you don't hear from them, I think it's worth pursuing.

You don't need to get them to agree to anything, you are holding the cards, send them three payments, via money order. Not much they can do and they should be happy they are getting anything at all.

Thanks for the advice.

What do you think about the Southern Financial company, where I can not find an email address or physical address? Should I accept the PIF or call them back and go for the $440 refund.

I can finally feel the weight lifting off my shoulders. No one should ever use a pay day consolidation company. Using your steps, you can do it yourself and save lots of your hard earned money.

What should my response be? I think it should be along the lines of the my state laws apply and they are not legal in Indiana.

Please advise.

Has anyone had any luck with these guys getting PIF or EPP?

I can tell you a couple of them who aren't licensed in your state, but instead I will give you a link and you can look them up yourself, keep in mind that Internet payday lenders must be licensed by your state so if you can't find them in the data base below it means they aren't licensed and operating illegally in your state:
