I found FreedomFromCreditors.org also called Plan B and was wondering if anyone knows how (or if) they are different? I am really worried and can't seem to get a good feel for what I should do next. I need $1000 in a week for my next round of CC payments and I don't have it! I just can't imagine NOT paying them... I really need some help here.

How much do you owe in total to all your creditors? I am assuming you're still current on all your payments, right? Have you tried negotiating lower payments with your creditors yet? IMO you should begin there.

To me their plan B sounds like a settlement program after all. Hope someone else would post with more information.

The challenge with a lot of these posts is there is just not enough information to fully understand that situation and provide good guidance. I suggest you click on the Companies Tab above, then click on the state of Tennessee and then click on The Truth About Debt Relief - doing so will provide you with the contact information for Doug Johnson, who is a consumer advocate and debt relief expert. He provides unlimited free consultations. In matters like these I think you need to speak with someone and really talk through the details of your specific situation and the options available to you. Doug is not a commissioned based sales rep so he takes the time to truly advise you as to your best option.

We owe $60,000 to 5 cards. I have entered into hardship programs on two of them but as of this month I can't even pay that. I turned off the auto pay on my B of A card (in hardship program) yesterday and the payment is due in 5 days. The idea of it not being paid on time has me up all night. I just don't know what to do.

I have posted several different times on here but seem to get mostly answered by debt settlement people rather then consumers who have dealt with it. I value all advice, but I guess I would really like to hear from those who have gone through this not those making money off it. :-?

I own a small business and all my debt is from trying to keep my business and my family going through this recession. I work full time (plus) so can't go get a part time job (not that there are any around here anyway). I just need to get these payments figured out. I actually had to put my rent on a cc last month! And this month I had to borrow it from a family member. I can't buy food and my gas and electric bills are two months behind. Yet the cc are all paid on time. It's totally screwed up, i realize that. But I am terrified of this whole settlement process and the credit rating damage (as I said I own a business and low credit could hinder the business growth). I just really really don't know what to do.
