Thanks everyone for the advice and information you are giving. I have two discover credit cards that have 10k on each of them. I'm only one month behind on one of them. But I simple can't pay them off because of the hours that where cut from my job. They haven't called yet, and I attempted to work something out before I stopped paying but they couldn't help me out. They offered me a hardship with 3.99% but the monthly bill was the same. So that wouldn't work. How long will this have to go on before I can settle with them and how low do you think they will settle for?

I'm in the process of selling off everything I own for the settlement.

I also did some research and found out that since I live in Texas. They can't garnish my wages or take my house. Is this true.

Thanks again

Well, they might have considered it too early to discuss settlement. They may start contacting you in the next month or the month there after. It'd really depend on the creditor. They might not write the accounts off before 180 days, so you approximately have six months to work out a settlement plan with them.

However, it's hard to commit a ballpark amount for settlement but members of this community have commented that Discover is little difficult to deal with.

You can use the search box to read about others' experiences with Discover. IMO it would give you some idea on how to deal with this lender.
