My payroll check is being garnished of over $100 a week. I am only bring home 191.00 a week It is for a medical bill that I thought was paid in 2003. I tried to pay amount of 100.00 a month to the better business bureau, but because of my current obligations, I could'nt afford pay it. So I tried to call them to explain that I can't do it. I always got a answering machine which says that will call in 48 hrs. Well, I didn't hear from them until funds was taking out. Now, I am working with my credit union to make a settlement and they wont bludge. They only offered to take 45.00 off. Every week they are adding more interest.
What can I do from here?

you are right moderator, they can only take 25% of you earnings, maybe they are taking it before taxes and this is his take home ?
back to the main poster though, you mentioned you are paying an old 03 medical bill and not they are garnishing your wages, why would you pay the BBB a 100 bucks is my main question ? sounds like a donation to me, they arent going to help you on that debt.
did you get served a lawsuit, they must have gotten a judgement on the bill some time that MAYBE you never noticed or never looked into.
how much is the current debt ? when is the current debt at, its obviously at a law office! you might be able to contact that law office and work out a settlement would be your number one option or a balance in full just to get it over with, and again maybe a payment plan, keep in mind they already have your money so you dont have much to work with here.
One more option is to maybe if you have a GREAT relationship with your employers to have them "let you go" and rehire you to stop the garnishment, i really doubt thats gonna happen though, they might just apply it right away again.
again i recommend contacting the law office and working something out or just paying it off to stop the judgement.
hope ive helped
