Haven't heard anything from CA

I posted a while back that one of my pdl's was sent to a collection agency LRA. I told them that I would need the debt validated, also faxed and mailed them the letter requesting this. I have not heard anything from since then. What I'm wondering is what happens now? Don't they have something like 30 days to respond to me? If they haven't gotten back to me within this time frame do you think this means they couldn't validate the debt? and if that's the case does that mean that I don't owe anything? Thank you for your help.

Yes from what I've been told on here they are illegal here in ny. I borrowed 250 and have paid 30, but of course the ca is telling me I owe like 500. I sent them the request for the validation back in the begining of jan. so I shouldn't do anything right? just sit back and see if they gget in touch with me?
