Has anyone had any successful settlements with Capitol One in late 2009 or 2010?

they do not settle until the debt is past 210 days charge off, dealing with them directly after this, you might get a 50% that needs to be paid off within 5 months if you ask.

its a gamble sometimes but if it goes to a collection agency sometimes they settle at an average of 30% sometimes lower and sometimes maybe at 40%, 30% seems to be an average though

good luck

I have missed one payment and about to miss another with Cap One. They started calling me a few weeks ago and have called with an automated message from "Linda" saying they "have an offer" for me. I haven't called back yet.... may wait a little longer. I am curious though to know what type of "offer" they could have when I am not even a month overdue.

Linda's special offer is nothing. You will end up talking to a rep who will ask for payment today.

I am 160+ and no offers. As stated above, they do not charge off until 210 days. Better if it goes to collections.

The will call constantly.

I have yet to read in this forum where someone settled with them.

Thanks for the info. After Googling the number I see countless discussions about that number and lots of complaints. Yeah they called twice yesterday.

I'm going to hope I can make some progress without getting sued. I also want to settle with Chase but only have a limited amount of funds so I hope I'm doing the right thing by not paying them (Cap One) right now.
