Credit Card Points

As part of a settlement, has anyone ever tried, or been able to negotiate for their points? I had points that if turned into gift cards, would be worth a few thousand dollars.

I had Chase points (not nearly that amount) but once I was 60 days late; all the points were removed. I should have cashed them in before I was delinquent; but honestly, given my financial distress, I didn't even think about the points until I looked over my recent statement and saw where I had some but now I currently have zero.
My advice to anyone that has cc cash/gift points; cash them in before any signs of not being able to make monthly payments otherwise they will be taken away by the OC.
