The Fat Lady is warming up....(hopefully)

My last debt I was looking to settle was a 12K debt with BOA. Hung on to the end--my sixth missed payment was this March and I was told by BOA that this was the last month they could work with me. So last night they came down to about the 35% mark, which I am lucky enough to be able to pay over three payments. Even gave me 30 days to make the first of three payments.
So, I wanted to share this and say that thanks to the folks on this board, their advice, suggestions and support, I was able to negotiate away $97,000 of debt. The point being that it is possible to do this your self and to get control of your life. Be informed, be organized, and be bold. Don't be afraid of talking to the credit card companies and asking for what you want.
The feeling of being close to debt free and living a cash life has been a revelation. Unfortunately, in life it seems we have to learn lessons the hard way and this one was hard but now that it is close to over I am looking forward to financial stability.
In any event, thank you to everyone for their help and advice, and good luck to all of you who are just starting or are in the middle of this process. Stick it out and you will be on the other side soon enough.
