I have a delinquent acct with Chase. During a recent conversation with the CSR when I mentioned that I have received several VMs asking me to call them back at different "800" numbers, the CSR told me to be careful because there are a lot of scams out there (she suggested calling the # on my cc) and also suggested I send a C&D letter to Chase (she gave me the fax # and address) and tell them that I only want to correspond via mail. I was surprised by this comment, and asked her wouldn't it be viewed as being a difficult customer and she said no and told me specifics to include in the letter. I told her I didn't mind connecting with them every few weeks, but I didn't expect my situation to change any time soon. Anyone have any thoughts on what the CSR told me?

You never know when people are phishing. I had a call one night from BOA doing a "survey on my most recent experience in the branch". I had been to the bank that day and gone in but thought it was odd. I kept them on the phone giving them a line of hang on I'll be right with you and got into chat with BOA and gave them their phone number. BOA confirmed it was a phish and they would never call for something like that and asked for the # they were calling from.

I would recommend doing everything by mail, that way nothing can be misconstrued (he said/she said in trying to settle). Plus they won't blow up your phone with repeat calls when the robocalls start too.
