When you send a goodwill letter to your creditor?

Presently I am late on one of my credit card accounts, which I am planning to pay off with this year's tax return. Can I send a goodwill letter to my creditor and ask them to remove the info from the credit report?

Hi Guest, sounds good that you are planning to clear off the dues/debt. But as far as my knowledge is concerned, Goodwill Letter is sent when you want any deletion of old negative item from the credit report.

If you are late due to certain ups and downs, but finally pay off the account, being a good customer, then out of goodwill, you can request the creditor or collection agency to remove the negative listing, by sending a Goodwill Letter.
