Need advice on TN PDL quicksand
Date: Tue, 03/16/2010 - 10:09
I even managed to pay back in full some of these once before, but, like quicksand, I was sucked back in.
I'm wondering if I called the companies and explained my situation, if they would lower the fees or is that just too much to hope for? If not, then would Debt Management be the way to go, or what other options (if any) do I have.
Here is a list of my PDL debts, amount borrowed, and the bi-weekly interest:

TOTAL, principle and interest: $5396.99. That number just scared the crap out of me, lol.
I've paid the interest on these all at least once, a couple of them at most 3 times.
Thank you

CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT FIRST!
Some of your lenders aren't licensed anywhere in the U.S., I need some time to figure out who is and who isn't but I need to know if all of these are Internet lenders. Also, TN does allow Internet lenders as long as they are licensed somewhere in the U.S., you need to find out what state your lenders are licensed in and follow the laws of that state. But, like I said, some aren't licensed anywhere, I need to sort that out as soon as you let me know if these are all Internet pdl's.
Thank you Shaazers. They are all indeed internet lenders!

Paradise Cash Advance- I am not sure about them but I am leaning toward not licensed anywhere, you may need to do some research on them.

You will need to do some research on the rest of your lenders, just type in the name of the lender into the search box located in the upper right hand corner of this forum, also take a look at their contract to see if they state they are licensed in any particular state and check it out here:

I am thinking that all but one of yours are all illegal, but please double check on it.

It means all you would owe them is the original amount you borrowed to begin with less any payments you have already made, if you have more than paid them off then they owe you a refund, it's up to you whether you want to try getting a refund, others have tried and been successful but it is a painstaking process and in my opinion well worth it. Ok, I have stopped my direct deposit into this account effective next week, and I will be going by the bank to close this account and get a new one.
Is it safe to get another account with the same bank, cause I love the bank I use (Fort Sill)?

You need to close the account, Direct deposit will only stop money going IN your account. Not going out. I would explain to your bank what is going on and ask them if you can close your current and open a new one. ALWAYS talk with your bank in these cases

Oh I'm still gonna close the account ASAP, I was just asking if it would be safe to open another account with the same bank, or do I just abandon this bank for a new one?
Thank you for your help :)

No, not in the service. Fort Sill is also available to us civvies too :) They are very easy to work with, and stay open very late hours, which caters to my needs.
So which one do you think is actually legal in my state?
Oh, and I also want to say that reading these forums has really put my mind at ease about these loansharking crooks. I have yet to read about one instance of broken legs or "Moe Green Specials".

Ok, I have hit a snag. Last week I got hit with a $99.95 charge from Platinum Services that I never authorized, and the bank is investigating it so I can get my money back. Downside is that I cannot close my account until that is over with.
Good news is that I don't have any PDL's coming due until next week. I'm really hoping the bank takes care of this in a hurry, though. I will keep you posted.
Thank you again for all your help.

Some of the internet lenders also have this wonderful little "snag" of they seem to have signed you up for something (and will tell you that you signed for it when you did the acceptance). Chances are you won't be able to get the money back on that one unless the bank reverses the charges for you. I am still waiting on my supposed "check" to come to me from one of those scams as well --- and that was in 2007. :)
Hang in there and know you are NOT alone in this and this too shall pass. It's amazing how much most of us "didn't" know until we knew!

I just checked my account, and they (the bank) has already put my money back in from that Platinum Services crap. I also just got off the phone with the bank and I will be able to close this account today :)
I have a question, and it's only half-serious: What would actually happen if I didn't pay any of these places one red cent? Will someone from The Soprano family come to my house and whack me?

You can expect threatening emails, phone calls, and all kinds of garbage that sounds legal & scary, just remember the source, they will stop at nothing to try and scare money out of you. lol

If they get too rude on me, I'll go all Tom Cruise in "Tropic Thunder" on them.

Ok, I'm back with an update:
The only companies that have even attempted to contact me after having their ACH debit requests returned from my bank are Loan Shop Online, FloBridge (the only legal one on my list), and Credit Protection Depot. I have mailed the C&D letters, and I'm just waiting for responses, if any.
Somehow, I'm not real worried about these companies, since they have no leg to stand on legally.
