helping a friend

Hello All,
It has been awhile since I have posted. Just to let everyone know (expecially wolf) I am still waiting after several months for DV on a couple of debts. I haven't made any payments to them and even had one removed for CR.
So, anyway I am hear to not talk about me but ask a question for a friend.
She has been getting calls from two CA's (one 6 months ago and one recently) on an old Fingerhut debt that was supposedly 19 (yes 19) years ago. It seems her husbands ex opened an account in his name while they were married and never paid the bill. He didn't know about the debt until sixs months ago when they got the first call. I informed her of her rights (thanks to you all) and let her know what to say if they called again.
They did call again, but it was a second CA, who admitted that the debt was past sol, but said he could still collect on it. I gave her a sample letter of C&D and DV to send them.
Do you have any advice to add that may help her get them off their backs?
This is an Indiana case.
Thanks a bunch.

Hi Meinindy,
You have done the right thing. As she is no way related to the debt then the C & D letter will definitely help her to get rid of the calls. If the calls continue even after that, ask her to file a complaint with the FTC along with State Attorney General.
