Tony what ever you do, do not listen to the above advice.
1. offer them something first. why because they arent going to offer anything nice, you want to low ball them so low that when they counter you, hopefully itll be in your area, always lead the conversation never allow the idiot collector to do the leading, you must be in control.
2. do not listen to the debt consolidation care steps on how to settle on your own, this site is a horrible place to go to get out of debt, the number 1 rule is to settle your smallest debts first, this is the worst advice i could ever give a client, you want to attack your biggest debts first, those debts are the ones thatll go up the highest in interest and fees, work hard at first with debt settlement making it easier as you go.
i have been settling credit card debt for 7 years, now there are 2200 plus settlement companies and when i started there were only 10 companies.
people at this site are people that dont know the answers and thats why they come here, they are seeking answers, and what ever you do do not listen to these idiots moderators, they have one goal and thats for you to sign up with DDC, the advice they give is the worst anyways.

You also need to get your story down... You have to make your case... Sobbing is allowed! Don't hold back and don't be afraid to make an offer on the phone. You will get the best deals after your debt is charged off.

obviously someone is angry! i have to say this site is a god send to most people an frankly many of us has used this site to its full advantage an even though im not one that has settled on my own, i would have the confidence now to do so. there are many moderators hofs an other members here who have been very sucessful in settling there debts, an would be more than willing to offer thier experience.
but i would have to ask, how late are you? is it in collection or still with the origional creditor?
