Is there a chance that you can work with a law firm after there has been a lawsuit against me? I have had my wages garnisheed, and I may be able to pay off the balance that I owe.

I was also wondering is there is a chance to negoiate the balance.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. RR

you must realize that anything is negotiable, in order to do this you must have your best cards in place because they already have much more on you.

lets say youre being garnished for 10k and they are taking out 25% of what you gross every month, depending on how much you make you might be garnished for some years to come and they can not get it any faster unless you start making more money at the same job place. you switch jobs and they need to get the garnishment once again.

if you have access to funds and im basing this off of 10k and they are getting maybe 300 per month, that means its going to take 34 months to pay back your whole debt. so anybody in their right mind would think about a settlement in full. I would start at maybe 2k to just see what they think, most likely itll piss them off a bit but who cares. see what they counter at. i would think in the end you might be able to settlement a garnishment around 50-80% depending on the creditor.

hope this helps a little bit.
