I have asked several questions on the legality of pd loans in NYS. Can someone please post the law part that I need to add into my letter? I have read pages and pages of these posts and seem even more lost than when I started lol What do I do if they tell me I still have to pay them? I have made my account deposit only and the first one I am starting with is Loanpoint USA - I took 600 from them and to date have paid them 540.00 so I only owe them technically 60.00 - I am soooooooooo afraid of what is going to happen with them, can someone post that this method DOES actually work?

Lisa, you have done the right thing by converting your account into deposit only. Make sure that no ACH transaction is allowed to pass. Illegal payday lenders often try to process an ACH transaction by altering their names or the amount.

You may check out the following for guidance to deal with illegal lenders.

If you have signed any voluntary wage garnishment assignment, you may also consider revoking it.
