I received a phone call from a woman by the name of Karen Chapman from Florida (telephone number given to call was 904-253-3290) stating that I was being charged with two felony's relating for a payday loan that was in Maine. She said she was representing Cumberland County where I had been previously located (it was an online payday loan) she stated that I was going to be picked up by local authorities in the coming days and that bail was going to be 2800 for a 320 dollar payday loan. They continue to call any person with my last name that they can find and have been told twice to stop calling them. IS this valid or is this just scare tactics and is there anyway I can make these phone calls stop?

You can NOT go to jail for owing a debt. I have read where other members have also been threatened in this way, disregard what they are telling you, but tell them you are going to file complaints against them for making false threats. Please provide more info, it will help us to help you:
-Names of each pdl company.
-Whether they are store front or Internet.
-How much you borrowed.
-How much you paid so far.
-The state in which you reside.

Name of PDL: She said it was CMG (would not give any more information)
State I reside in: Massachusetts but I resided in maine at the time of the loan
Amount of loan: 320
Amount paid back: 40

I do not believe it was cashnet, I somehow found it online this was back in April 2008 so I don't recall much of it but it was not cashnet, looking at my credit report it doesn't have anything from a cashnet at all.
