If you are holding my $$ in an account for say six months and I am not paying, I read that after 180 days the credit card company writes off your balance. If that is so then why do I need your services.
I will late with all my payments, have bill collectors calling while I am setting aside $$ to give who after the credit card companies write off the debt

I guess you're trying to settle with your creditors and have hired a settlement firm for that purpose. Well, in that case, you must first understand how a settlement process works. Haven't you been explained about it by the settlement company?

Most of the creditors won't talk about settlement until you're sufficiently behind on your payments. If you were comfortable making payments to your creditors, you might not need a settlement service at all.

If your creditors are still calling you when you're in a settlement program. Give them the contact info of the settlement company and at the same time inform the settlement firm about the creditor calls. If they fail to stop collection calls, you might have to consider hiring another settlement company.
