Can anyone share with me what happens after you answer a summons from Target National Bank? I am being sued while in a debt settlement program. I know that is a risk but am looking for info if anyone has been through this.

It's not unusual to get sued even when you're in a settlement program. The creditor might or might not agree to the settlement offer made by the settlement firm. And, the creditors often react sharply, i.e. sues you, if it happens.

You can check out the following link for information on a court proceeding.

Hope you would find it useful.

ive been in your shoes with citibank. just be sure that you respond to the summons, an show up. in my case even though it was very scary, the judge was very sympathetic an was angry that they brought me there scince i was attempting to reach a agreement.

depending on your state, this is what will happen. be sure to bring in your bills verses income. the judge will either set you up on a payment plan, attach your wages, add a bank levy to your bank account, but a lein on your property, etc. the course will all depend on if its possible for you to pay anything, like in my case i had no income. an i live in a no garnish state. so the only course of action was to attach a lein on my home. an all that means is i couldnt sell till that debt was paid.

keep in mind even after judgement u can still settle. alot of people do this after the judgement so you may still be able to settle for less.
