I own a 2 fam house in NJ. I rented out my basement which is "unregistered" to someone.
He moved out after 2 months on his own. Then he threatened to sueme for back rent after
he left. I told the judge the truth that I did rent to him and the case got dismissed since no official violations were issued. He said he was going to persue this and go after me again. What can I do? Times were hard and I know I shouldn't have rented it plus he trashed my beautiful finished basement apt :(
