I have been dealing with chase for 6 mos. and at one point I had a repayment plan with them with zero percent interest but due to an unexpected hospital surgery I missed a payment over 30 days. The immediately raised my interest and took me off the program. As a result they tack on over limit fees and late charges taking my payment per month to over $463, which I can not pay. They now have me in pre-litigation and are threatening to sue in 10 days. I had a licensed debt counseling co. call Chase with a new offer, however, they rejected the offer and are saying either pay the past due of $900 or we will sue you in court. Chase was the one who referred me to a credit counseling agency in the first place and now they are rejecting their offer. Help! does anyone know if I have any options?

See, as the creditor Chase has the right to either accept or reject a settlement offer. Your chance is only to make them agree to a settlement amount. If they sue, you might get a fair hearing and explain your situation before the court.
How much do you owe in total? I doubt if Chase would take the pain to sue you for a debt amount of only $900.

If Chase is threatening legal action Chase will sue. They are by far the most aggressive bank in the nation. They will Chase you. They will not violate FDCPA and threaten legal action if they don't intend to follow up with it.
