cred. card expiration dates

I have a credit card with a retail clothing store which I just paid off. I've never missed a payment. I would like to keep the card open for purposes of boosting my credit score; however, I noticed the card expires in a month. My question is: If I am sent a new card and it is not used, will the company automatically cancel my account? Or, does the expiration of the card require me to "reapply" in order to keep the card? If anyone knows, I would appreciate an answer. I am well aware that a closed account can lower a credit score, yet this particular card is from a sub-prime lender and I would prefer not to continue using it if possible. Thank you
You will receive a card and will probably need to dial a number
