I just got a copy in the mail of what looks like a Garnishment summons. It is dated 3/29/10. Midland Funding is listed as the creditor. I just paid off a settlement to them on 3/1/10. Also, this was sent to my former employer. I have been disabled and out of work for going on two years. The only income I get is a disability check. Is this legal? Also, I have tried to cal the Virginia Beach, Va # all morning and cannot get anyone to answer the phone. How can I get this straight. I am in a wheelchair, have to have heart surgery on the 16th of April and looking to the 3rd surgery on my leg. This is ridiculous.

they might be closed today. that said, if they intend to garnish you somewhere where you dont work, then there's nothing to worry about. was the settlement you paid for this or something else? if its the same matter then the documentation you received might be an old action.
