i had a question about this collection agency. they keep calling even though i told them i'm not allowed to get calls at work. i told them i needed written verification and they said they would send it but i have yet to see anything. my question to you is since i owe them $3000 i can only afford to pay about $1000, because i've got other debts namely the IRS that i am currently paying ( along with other creditors). Do you think that they will accept this offer? How realistic is it that they will take me to court? What other options do i have?

A collection can NOT take you to court... only the original creditor can file suit. Do not let a collection agency tell you other wise. As for the other debts you have please email with any questions you have and for my contact number and we will sit down and do a full financial analysis of who and how much you owe and what we can do for you here.
DELETED...sorry no posting personal or solicitory info.

Um actually a collection agency CAN hire a lawyer and take you to court...they do it all the time. However, you can force them to prove everything under the sun in court.

It is your right to demand validation, but you need to do it in writing and send it certified mail return receipt. On if they will accept the settlement depends on how old the account is. The older the account, the more they are willing to knock off, with debts over the SOL and reporting period willing to cut the most off to get paid something.

You would want to check your credit reports and ask for pay for deletes because a 'settled' or 'paid' account still looks bad plus it will tank your scores because it gets updated and an older account will seem new.
