I have a credit card bill I was making payments on. I missed one month, which I discussed with them before hand. They said they would still work with me. Next, thing I know there is a wage garnishment against me. A month later they place a bank garnishment on one of my bank accounts too, freezing my account and taking all that was in it. How do I protect myself so I can continue to pay my monthly bills. They are already getting the 25% every two weeks from my paycheck and now they empty out my bank account.

How can this happen?

In order to garnish one's wage the credit card company has to sue and win a judgement against the defaulted borrower. Moreover, banks don't jump to sue a customer for missing a single payment. I think a major part of the story is missing.

Let's see what others have to say about it.
