Has anyone had much luck settling for less than 85% with Capital One? I owe about $3500, but cannot get below 87%. They now have some company called "Global International" calling me & telling me they are the "pre-legal" company. The guy from there claims Capital One didn't get any bail out money, which is why they don't have great settlements. Do I believe him???

I settled one of Cap One cards at 50% at around 150 days late. It was around $3300 and they took $1650 in two payments. My other cap one card - they simply won't budge off their allowed settlement on the screen - even when I ask to be sent over to Cap One directly (it's currently with NCO). I charge off today and we'll see what happens.

Let us know if you make any progress I would be really interested in hearing about it. This cap one card is my last one.

They have offered me a settlement, payable in 6 monthly installments, the % is way to high. I advise pulling the arbitration card for smaller balances. That prevents a lawsuit and they will not pay thousands in arbitration fees + their attornies to collect a small balance. If they do want to go at it, they may still have a hard time finding a forum willing to hear their claim...Now, will that make them more reasonable in not trying to squeeze the life outta people? I'm betting yes...

Edit % was 52.5%
