I am almost 3 months behind on my BofA cc. I called them recently and the CSR told me that the acct has been turned over to a collection agency and gave me the contact nbr (877-496-4170); he said he did not know which agency it was. I tried calling the nbr, but the office was closed, will try again tomorrow. Is this standard procedure for BofA? Is this just a third party working for BofA? I thought accts don't go to a collection agency until it charges off around the 180 day mark. I hope to be able to settle with them. Thanks.

I called and the CA is ACT-FIA Card Services located in TN. I explained our financial hardship and was unable to pay at this time; then asked what happens going forward...they said it will continue to be delinquent and late charges will continue to be added; then at some future point it will charge off. They pushed hard for a repayment program and wanted our income/mo bills. I did not feel comfortable telling the CSR our info, and explained that we have been through this with other creditors and did not qualify because our bills are higher than our mo. income. I finally just hung up after being switched to another rep who began asking the same questions. Has anyone dealt with this company? Thanks

Well I called BofA after getting an email and text message; seems the acct is back with BofA. The rep was very nice, tried to get a payment from me. I asked about the possibility of a settlement, he said they cannot offer one now because I am only 4 mos late; but next month I would qualify; and that the acct would charge off the end of August (7 mos). He also stated it is an AMEX card held by BofA; not sure that makes a difference than just being a std personal cc from BofA. He also said he would put a note of the acct not to call me until June. I hope that is true; not getting numerous calls each day from one creditor would be nice.
