I had a collection with them back in 04, it was paid and settled, however it keeps showing up on my credit report and causing me problems. Any suggestions on how to deal with this unethical company and clear it up?

Do you have written documents to prove that the account has been paid and settled? If you have the required papers, you may consider disputing the item with the bureaus and the collector.

Just because it has been paid and settled doesnt mean it automatically comes off. Depending on the creditor, and when the account when bad, it would still be within the 7 year reporting SOL. Nothing unethical about this.
