I live in Utah and I have a Pay Day Loan out with Zip19 for $719 due Friday. I don't have the money to pay it but they have refused to work with me on a payment plan.

I know they are an illegal lender so I was thinking of closing my account ans writing them a letter as outlined in the post dealing with illegal lenders. However, I have direct deposit for my husband's paycheck and auto deduct for a couple legit bills. How do I deal with this situation? Is there any other way to stop them from taking the money out or forcing them to work with me other than closing my account completely?

Thanks in advance.

Closing your account is the only way to stop them, that's what I would do, then pay them via the mail with payments you can afford. They will tell you they won't or can't accept payments via the mail but if they want paid, they will eventually agree. Just tell them no address means no payments. You would only owe them the principal amount you borrowed and not a penny more. Just make sure they aren't licensed to lend in your state before you proceed.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to close my account or put a hard debit block on it tomorrow. It was my understanding that Utah law requires a payday lender to be licensed in Utah to operate legally. I've seen elsewhere in the forums that Zip19 is only licensed in Canada. So this makes them illegal, right? Sorry, if I'm missing something, there's just a lot of information to take in. Thanks again.

Get a prepaid credit card to pay your legal payday loans. Explain to them that you had to close your bank account due to fraud and tell them you're not opening a new one. They don't need to know that you have a new account. And, if you've overpaid Zip19, I'd demand a refund of any overpayment.
