Hi, I did have a debt of a few hundred piunds to Capital One. They asigned me a Debt Manager within Capital One and I paid off the debt in full over four payments, monthly. The debt was paid fully in December 2009.

In the lst couple of months I have received letters from CapQuest stating that I owe money to Capital One. I have written to Capquest and explained that I have NO debt with Capital One and referred them to sp4ak to my Debt Manager. I also stated in my letter that I do not give them permission to access my accounts or have access to any information.

I am still receiving letters demanding payment otherwise they will take proceedings against me.

I have printed records from my Capital One account showing that the debt was paid in full to Capital One and my account is now zero. I no longer use the card.

Can you advise me how to stop these annoying letters please?

The best way to stop this kind of action is consult a lawyer/solicitor as to the laws regarding unfair collection practices. Consulting a lawyer won't stop the harassment immediately, but it will insure that you are aware of your rights. Consulting your debt manager would not be the best thing to do, because most debt managers are not lawyers, and in every country I know of, only someone admitted to practice in that jurisdiction can give legal advice.
