Hi,
I have not had any debt at all since 2004. Paid of everything. No credit cards no loans. Nada.
So a few months ago a start getting calls from AACC 757-209-2028.
I never answer the phone or reply to message cause i dont owe anyone. Then maybe 6 weeks ago i got a bill from AACC saying i owe $3100. I lost it!! never. So i called and requested information about this debt.
It is ~$3100 from a 1980 debt something about a VISA card to someone named Sherman. (Back in 1980 i was 22 yrs old and could not afford a $3100 debt!!) I told the Collections guy that i never had a VISA prior to 1995, never heard of anyone named Sherman. I told him that i had no intention of paying into his bogus scam.

Then he tells me that he has another debt assigned to my name for a MERVYNs account last payment was in 1998.
(My Ex removed my name from a MERVYNs account in 1995 and my Ex was awarded ALL bills during 1996 divorce judgment.)
So I told him that these debts were well past any SOL. Of course he tries to persuade me to pay. I decline responsibility. I have no intention of paying on any bill that is not my responsibility.
I asked him to stop calling me.
I ripped up the $3100 bill.

Well needless to say that call didnt do any good. AACC is still calling.
NOW this week within 20 minutes of AACC phone calls, I am getting calls from Portfolio Recovery but they don't leave message. Also i am getting about 4 calls/day from various numbers all starting with area code 757, but no message.
I'm self employed and need my phone for business. I cant change phone numbers or will loose business. But right now i let any unknown number go to VM.
Any suggestions?

Don't even mention SOL...that may give them the bright idea to try and file it with the IRS and you will get a 1099c and have to pay taxes on it.

Just send a total cease & desist. You don't have to give any reason, just tell them to get lost and never contact you AT ALL. That way they can't call or send letters, if they do you can sue them for a cool $1000.
