I too was called by Edison, Patrick & Asssociates. I researched them Extensively before I paid a debt which I knew I owed but was delinquent due to me loosing my job in this terrible economy. They are licensed in every state and are armed to the teeth with lawyers in each state.
I know this because a former co-worker and myself both got payday loans over the internet via our work PC's before we were both laid off. Edison, Patrick & Associates called both of us regarding our debts. I paid them because my reseach confirmed that they were legit and they were willing to let me break my payments up but my friend refused to even make an effort to pay. I just got a call from him yesterday and he told me that he had to go to court and a Judge ordered him to pay the debt, attorneys fees, court costs, and filing fees.
If you owe the debt...my advice is to try to work it out with them. These people have crossed their "T's" and dotted their "i's".

Hey guys 1 here. There are several reasons why you should be leery of paulmergel and his illegal advice. He is not an attorney and by law can't give legal advice. His typing skills are below par, and his assumption that the agency in question needs to be licensed in Illinois is completely false and below is the Illinois state law to support this.
As for him referring to this agency as bottom feeders when no one has mentioned any illegal tactics...that goes too far. If they are legally collecting debt and enforcing laws on these people good for them. If no one pays their bills and defrauds lenders...America looses jobs! I think a definition more befitting the word bottom feeder is, "A person who engages in accepting loans under clear conditions but refusing to repay the loan." or "People who get a payday loan (which is a great service because no ones employer will advance them any more) and then close their account so that the debt is never repaid" It is stealing people! You are all angry at the debt collectors you, yourselves created!

Show me any law written in IL between 2002 and today which amends or replaces the policy regarding out of state agencies. You won't find it and all of these people will know you are a fraud.

i found my info on the IL AG website.next you are going to tell everybody the part in the website about ipdl's requiring a license doesn't exist either.the new pdl and collection laws took place after ms.madigan took offiice in 2004.the AG website for any state is where the info is.not google,or yahoo.i noticed you just glossed over the points about this place not even being registered with any states BAR ASSOCIATION.also not being licensed period.again you work for this place, and are the fraud.not me.btw i encourage everyone to look it up on the IL AG website.that will prove i'm right.another btw i just noticed your little piece of info isn't in the IL AG'S website.care to explain that.you see, info on any AG'S website won't stay on for that long unless reforms were put in place.now it's my turn to demand where you got your info from.show me or else.

in fact in 2009 ms.madigan's office set up a special site to report collectors attempting to collect without a proper license in illinois.go to the website and click LICENSES FOR DEBT COLECTORS.now why would she set up a special site if the law hasn't changed since 2002.again back to the phones with your lies, and let us adults talk for awhile.

to confirm what i stated is fact, and the collector playing lawyer.go to
ilga.gov/legislation/pulbicacts/fulltext/public act 094-0414.
it explains in detail the reforms i discussed.this was enacted in dec 2005.so the info the idiot supplied is outdated, therefore false.

I got a violin from my daughter thru Brook Mayes Music Company Made most of the 20 months payment and became ill. I was four months of payment behind and was turned over to this collection agnecy. First of all, there was always a conflict with this account. (Somehow a paid off account -violin for older daughter were mixed up.) I was told that I had no payments were due as well as no payments were made. Nevertheless, my daughter was called our her class to let her know that someone will be picking up her violin in regards to non-payment (13 yrs old). My daughter was embrassed not to mention no one takes ownership of the call. Through must research, Edison Patrick Collections does not have the debt but A one does. Then got the nerves to request over 50.00 collection fees.

If you live in Texas and this agency has called you, contact a lawyer. I can not find where they are licensed to collect in the state of Texas and you may press charges against these sleazeballs and even get money out of them. There are plenty of lawyers around that are willing to take these cases as collections agencies usually do break the law. They just prey on people's ignorance of these issues.

I had rented an instrument for my daughter for school. She lost the instrument. I was still paying on it until I could no longer affford to. In the processes of working out an agreement with the rental company, they sent my account to Edison, Patrick, and Associates. At the time my account was sent to collection I still owed just over $700.00 to the rental company.I received a call at work from a man named Duane from Edison. Duane was attempting to collect over $4,000.00 from me for a used instrument. He also said even if I found it and returned it I would still owe over $2,400.00. He kept saying I was unlawfully in possession of equipment that didnt belong to me. I told him my daughter had lost it therefore I am not in possession. When I told him I couldnt receive calls at work he proceeded to tell me "how will your employer feel when I tell them that you are unlawfully in possession of an instrument". He threatened more than once to tell my employer. I immediately called the instrument rental company and they immediately pulled my account from collection, apologized for how I was treated, and confirmed that I only owed $730.00 for the instrument. This man "Duane" from Edison, Patrick and Associates kept threatening me with legal action, etc. Mind you, the phone call was the first knowledge I had of being sent to collection. I never received written notice. I told Duane again not to call me at work and hung up on him. I received a message the next morning from an employee stating the same man from Edison, Patrick, and Associates had called that morning. I saved the message. He played it safe by claiming he was returning my call. I NEVER CALLED him. I sent them a complaint letter regarding how I was treated and of course never heard back. I am now in the process of filing a claim with the Federal Trade Commission. www.ftc.gov. This all happened within the last month.
Hey let's all get attorneys and sue the fuck out of companies. I
Hey let's all get attorneys and sue the fuck out of companies. It doesn't matter if it's collections or doctors. One thing that pisses me off about a website like this, not that it doesn't help educate people on scams and phishers but the fact that anytime any collection agency calls about anything, they say it's a scam and to sue them. People wonder why this country is failing. I personally know 2 people who own collection agencies, both are honest hard working people with families. Sorry a collector told you a lie, but hey you're a fucking idiot for not knowing the law. Sorry you took out a payday loan and refuse to pay it, why don't you sue them so you can get even more shit for free. You people make me sick (not all of you but the ones calling collection agencies bottom feeders) that definition to me is a scumbag ass packing cock gobbling lawyer who exploits peoples misfortune to make themselves rich. Granted people in the collection industry make some $$$ on top of the debt they collect, but that's how capitalism works. If you don't like it take your fucking hippie loving pot smoking child raping asses to a shit hole place like china and live there. Otherwise educate yourself on your own fucking laws, handle your responsibilities and act mature. One way you can tell i'm in the collection biz is because i despise not only dead beat debtors and scum sucking lawyers, but people who congregate on shitty internet forums to figure out the best way to destroy an industry like collections. You faggots are lucky we won the war against england otherwise you'd all be in debtor's jail. Guess it won't be too long before we're back under their thumb, the way you stupid debtor fucks don't pay up and want to leech off the government. Why don't you people invest in the amero & back nafta policies. Then again that might be too much as it would require actually learning something instead of reading a shitty internet forum.

I like how they deleted my last post calling people out on internet forums about suing anyone and ruining the country, i'm glad the mods here can decipher trolls from truth tellers. Since this isn't bashing an agency but rather the people on this forum for exploiting the system to get a free ride. I am glad we won the war against england, for all of your sakes, since you can't go to debtor's jail. This place is simply a means for people to gather the information they need to avoid paying their bills. That's why the only ads they have are for bankruptcy and lawyers. People who live beyond their means have bogged this country down. Mark my words, all of you try to use bottom feeders (attorneys) to help you take a free ride aren't going to enjoy the ride that much. Maybe you should educate yourselves on laws and read contracts before you post on forums.
the two above me are humanoids who work for bottomfeeders.nobody
the two above me are humanoids who work for bottomfeeders.nobody is looking for a free ride.you just don't like it when your scam collector can't get people to "just pay up"over the phone.the laws, and the FDCPA exist for a reason.mopes like you,and every other bottomfeeding collector.if we were really looking for a free ride loser.the laws would change, but they are not.so go back to the phones, and your pissed-off little life knowing you are wrong.buh-bye.
