This is one of the worst companies to deal with. what ever you do, do not talk to them. send your letters and ignore their calls. It never hurts to file complaints several times. I started this processes in Nov. and to this day I keep all documentation and I continue to file complaints and I never ever answer numbers I do not know. There may be a time that they become silent. But they will try again. Be strong and know your rights.

If they are unlicensed, then you'd need to close your bank account first to stop them from debiting it for more. Check out the following to know more about dealing with unlicensed lenders.

I agree, definitely get that account closed; Ameriloan and other PDLs operate under several names; even if you have a stop payment on their name, it's possible they'll use another name to debit your account.

I've got my account closed and have filed with BBB. I have dealt with many companies but they do seem to be the worst. I just didn't know if I should accept the payoff for $300.00 and get them out of my hair, because I don't want it to go to collections it always seems harder then. Thank you for your help.

first ask yourself if you even owe them.you see being as they are illegal, and everyone associated with them is gonna burn one day you only owe the principle borrowed.i would file AG,and FTC complaints against them as well.then don't speak to them again.they act like scum because they want to think that way.i'll just pay them, and they will go away.sorry they don't just go away.btw if it goes to collections then you can send a DV letter to the collector.impossible to validate an illegal loan.

I agree with PaulMergel; it's possible you don't owe them anything and in fact may have overpaid them. Anyhow - even if you send them $300 to avoid going to collections that somewhere down the road, I'd say it's not impossible they'll STILL try to get money from you. Haven't heard of that happening, but with illegal PDL's, I'd say nothing is impossible. As PM said, even if they do send the loan to collections, if it's an illegal loan, they can't collect on it. When my PDL's sicced their collection people on me, I just asked them to send me something in writing on their company letterhead stating that they were in fact collecting on a legal loan. Needless to say, I never got any letters.
