after being denied numerous times when applying for ANY form of credit i got my credit report. thats when i discovered that two cell phone companys had sold debts that i was completly unaware of to afni, one of the companys i still had service with! anyways, i just want to repair my credit score and move on! the two items total about $1200. what is my best way of dealing with this? call afni offer to settle for a lower $ amount? will they remove themselves from my credit report and make my score go up and if so how long will it take? im assuming trying to get any details or pay the cell phone companys will be a waste of my time as well....am i correct? i couldnt even find their phone# or address without your sight. thank you. im just worried that by contacting them myself will open a can of worms from the horror stories ive heard, they themselves have never contacted me, like i said, i had no idea i owed anyone anything!

You can read more about AFNI in the following thread.

Anyway, since you want to improve your score, the best way to do it is by paying off old debts. You may contact AFNI and offer a settlement. However, if you have confusions about the debt, you may proceed with sending a debt validation letter first.

BTW, how old are these accounts? Are these still within the legal statute of limitation?
